The 9th generation of Consoles is here with PS5 and Xbox series X. The PS5 has made a substantial generational leap forward in terms of console gaming. With 10.28 Teraflops of power, 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 ram together with the ability to run up to 8K with upwards of 120 Frames per second, the PS5 packs a punch. With this substantial generational leap forward, we can expect some of the best games ever on the consoles with excellent visual fidelity and a higher frame rate.
The PS5 also boasts some incredibly fast load times than its predecessor. For Comparison, the PS4 loads’ Spiderman: Miles Morales in 1 minute and 27 seconds while the PS5 loads it in about just 17 seconds. Another game whose load times are shaved in half is death stranding; PlayStation 4 loads in the world in 1 minute and 50 seconds while the PS5 loads it in just 54 seconds.
We did not like the PS5 is the 825 GB SSD with just 667.2 GB usable. Games are reaching 100s of gigabytes, and this space might be good for only 5 or 6 games. But we do get why they made this decision as SSDs are expensive, and bringing this whole package in a price tag of just $499 is a feat, no doubt.
The PS4 was the clear winner in the last generation with some of the best exclusives we have seen to date. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spiderman, and so much more were made for the console, making its sales shot up.
This generation is certainly not that different as Sony has announced and clarified the release windows for two great Sony exclusives.
Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2016 as a very highly acclaimed game. This game lets you play as Aloy, who was exiled from her village with her father at birth and has now come of age and has to find the people who conspired to attack her village. The game has a vast open-world with many cyborgs and monsters running around. The game was very highly acclaimed by both fans and critics alike
PC players recently got Horizon Zero Dawn in their library as it was released earlier this year on Steam after years of waiting.
The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn has now been confirmed by Sony to come out in the second half of 2021. The game is being called Horizon Forbidden West. It was announced way back in June of this year by Sony in an announcement trailer. We will have our beloved Protagonist, Aloy, to join us on this journey as well.
Another beloved Franchise made by the Sony-owned Insomniac Games called Ratchet and Clank is also making a return. Ratchet and Clank is a platformer and a third-person shooter which has been releasing games from the days of the PS2. The next game in this Franchise will be called Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. This game will be released in the first half of 2020.
However, these reveals were not made in a proper formal announcement, but a small subtext in the latest PS5 ad called” New Worlds to explore.” This ad also had confirmed the launch day release of Spiderman: Miles Morales and Demon soul remake, which are all Sony exclusives.
A few other PS5 exclusives were also shown, which could be expected in the first half of 2021, mainly Gran Turismo 7 and Returnal.
The PS5 is a significant generational leap forward for Sony. It already has a lot of exclusives that are slated for release this year and the next.
This generational leap forward is also supported by the already existing PS4 titles, which can be played using the Sony PlayStation Now service. There are upwards of 4000 games that are available to play on the PS5 right now.
As of now, the PS5 has got a few launch day exclusives like Miles Morales; you can still get by the already existing massive library of the PS4. Early adopters will have to wait for some time to get the next generation of exclusives to hit the Platform indeed.
